Why is it that the healthcare system is being made to pay out millions of pounds each year to deal with the treatment, operations and care of people that have cased their own illnesses through their lifestyle choices? I am not here to lecture people on what they should be doing with their lives, but I do think that other peoples hard earned money should not be paying for the treatment of avoidable illnesses. If you create a large amount of rubbish from decorating your house, you call someone like the Skip Company Sutton to come and take it away, you wouldn’t expect someone else to pay for your lifestyle; so why do people expect others to pay out for their other lifestyle choices?

Smoking, and diet are two of the biggest causes of illness, disease and injury in the western world and it seems unfair that those living as healthy a life as possible would have their taxes spent on medical treatment for those who have eaten or smoked their way into a state of illness. There should be a new system put into place, whereby smokers and obese people should have to pay extra taxes, or pay for part of their healthcare so that others are not being punished for their life choices. I am not trying to be controversial or offensive to anyone, I am simply trying to point out some form of uneven distribution of tax money, which does not work out well for those who are choosing to live a healthy lifestyle in a society which is actively promoting unhealthy choices.

Maybe the best way to resolve the situation is by actively incentivizing a healthy living program. Instead of punishing those who have unhealthy lifestyles which cost the government huge amounts in healthcare, we should give tax discounts for those who are extremely healthy and do not cost the state much money to look after.

I really do sympathize with any of you out there who are asking yourself the question is my husband cheating on me? If the question has arisen, there must be some reason why you are feeling suspicious. This in itself is a signal that he is obviously acting in an odd or suspicious manor and you cannot leave this to go unchecked. It does not necessarily mean that he is guilty, but you need to know the truth of the matter in able to carry on your marriage happily.

Unfortunately catching a cheat is not as easy as it is to catch out companies that are trying to sell you false products, and you cannot utilize the services of Enigin scam busters.

There are a lot of things that can lead us to ask the question is my husband cheating, and there are many ways to go about finding the answer. You know him better than anyone else, and therefore you are probably the one who is best qualified to notice when he is not acting his usual self. Don’t ignore the signs.

If you have seen that he is being very secretive about his phone for instance, this is a major giveaway. There should be no secrets between a husband and wife so if he is looking at messages in private, locking his phone and generally acting a little shifty with it; just go right ahead and ask him about it. Ask him who has just text, or who it was that rang whilst he was out in the garden! You have the right to know, and if he has nothing to hide, there should be no problem in telling you.

Don’t be afraid to confront him as soon as you notice any odd behavior, as too many women let things slip by as they are afraid to cause a problem. You have done nothing wrong, so have the right to ask questions about his movements or phone calls. If he has done nothing wrong, he will have no problem in telling you the answer.

If you are not happy with the answers you are getting, and still feel that something doesn’t add up then it is time to step things up a bit. Sitting at home thinking “is my husband cheating” but not actually doing anything is a crime against yourself! You must know the truth or you will never be happy. The next stage is to set traps for him, and make him mess up, or prove himself.

Depending on where you suspect the cheating is taking place, may affect your actions. If you are in a position to hire a private investigator, then this may be a good idea. This way you can get the proof you need without getting directly involved. If this is not possible, you may have to put yourself out a bit to get some answers. One tactic is to follow him or track his phone when you suspect he is up to no good. Another option is to go to the place he says he is and check up on him. You don’t want to get caught, so be careful. If you notice his car is not outside, call him and see where he says he is. You will know if he is lying or not.

Now, it may just be my so-called posh-bird-streak showing through, but I have a horrible feeling that the answer to the title of this article is a whopping great NO.

Imagine walking down the street and seeing this:

Everyone is the same. Similar clothes, nothing flashy. You never see anyone who looks upper class or lower class – everyone, no matter who they are and what colour they are, is equal. Even the sound of feet on pavement is the same all over the world. You can walk for miles and see nobody who has that spark of energy that comes with arrogance of despair.

Say you’re buying horse insurance – come on, I’m a posh bird, so this is my dream! – and when you call up the insurance company the girl on the other end of the line sounds like you. The same equality woes, the same old thing that you wake up with every day. Would that really be interesting? Probably not but it would be fairer, and fairer would surely be better for mankind?

I also know for a fact that many people just don’t want it fair…

I am not convinced. Much as I want the world to be fair I also know for a fact that many people just don’t want it fair. They are happier having more money than others, and this is what sort of makes the world go around…

…For example, if there was no contrast, how would people measure their own success? I suppose we would find a way but I have to say it would be bizarre to never be bothered by a beggar or turn on the TV and see Jeremy Kyle dishing out all his “advice”…

Actually, scratch that, maybe it would be a good thing if that show vanished off the air. What do you think? Could you live without Jeremy? Not sure if I could…ashamed as I am to say that!

I’ve been discovering recently just how difficult it is to get a website business off the ground when you still have to work at a full time job in order to pay the bills. I’m caught in a vicious circle, really, if I go part-time and the website work doesn’t come in, I’ll end up even further in debt, but at the moment I’m having to turn down assignments because there aren’t enough hours in the day. I don’t want to quit my job altogether, as it provides a nice little security blanket in a very uncertain world, but part-time hours would allow me to take on more work. What I need is another job (hear me out) that would allow me to earn some extra cash when the website business is slow. I’d been unable to come up with anything suitable, until my friend suggested working as a UK courier.

Don’t worry; I’m not going to be delivering parcels of drugs or anything dodgy like that! Parcels companies are apparently always looking for extra staff with their own cars to deliver packages in the run-up to Christmas – and best of all you can pick and choose your hours at the start of each week. Of course, it means I’ll have to give the old rust bucket a bit if a clean now and then to at least look professional, but it could be the solution I’ve been searching for. Now I have to decide whether to take the plunge and tell my boss to reduce my hours, or do I just change them to allow me to try a bit of courier work and see if I’m earning enough cash. I could end up with three jobs on the go over Christmas – just when the kids need some extra attention and I like to spend time with the family!

I’ll keep you posted (a little courier joke there for you) as to how things go. If you don’t hear from me for a while, assume I’ve gone for the three-job option and am too exhausted to even type…

Many people out there have unique jobs – jobs which are a bit different to the run-of-the-mill office jobs which many of us spend our lives working away at. In the field of Biomedical Jobs for example, there are literally dozens of professions. You’d never know it from the title, but someone in this field might be an expert on one of the following things: blood transfusion, histology, immunology and cytology.

Fortunately, though, the hunt for such jobs need not always be complicated! There are dozens of job portals on the internet which can help you out. Trust me, I am a posh bird who has made it her business to know here stuff!

Facebook is the dominant force in social networking, we all know that, so why not take full advantage of it?

But that’s not to say that you can’t take a different approach to job hunting. Here are a few tips and hints and ways of doing things which you might want to consider:

1) Get business cards printed: it’s very simple and you never know who you might meet, right? Exactly! You never know what situation is around the corner, so be sure to take your business cards with you at all times. It may just lead to a great new opportunity.

2) Leave an ad on Gumtree: Gumtree is so big and vast now that, if you’re willing to take a chance, you can find almost anything on there. Don’t be left out! It’s free after all.

3) Facebook pages: Facebook is the dominant force in social networking, we all know that, so why not take full advantage of it? Biomedical work, like anything, will be there somewhere. Don’t be left behind; embrace technology. You have no reason to fear it!

 4) Join a few agencies and let them find a job for you: many people, for some odd reason, are against this. Well, here’s the truth: joining an agency might be the best thing you ever decide to do. It will not only get you much greater reach, but it’ll enable you to pick and choose from a range of jobs, including many which you’d likely never have found by just looking on your own.

5) Need some Sun? Looking to cut ties with the UK for a while? Great! Then what’s to stop you from looking for jobs in different countries you have always wanted to visit? Nothing, especially now that the internet joins up all the dots so quickly and easily.

I feel ridiculous admitting it, but it’s the truth: I used to be obsessed with checking my emails. I’d check them 20 or more times a day, often for no real reason. Why did I do this? It’s hard to say, but I’d say it was a habit which became conditioning. After all, isn’t that how anyone gets obsessed with anything?

It all began when I started working for myself. My job: to write for other people. Blog posts mainly, and also articles. One of my clients was a manufacturer of bespoke three piece suits . I loved the job and the flexibility it brought, but one of the biggest issues with it was the fact that I had to check my emails to see if she had contacted me…

Now, it all started fairly innocently. I’d check my email in the morning, then at lunch, then in the evening. But after a while I started to have less time to respond to emails. For example, she would want to know something and expect it right away and if I didn’t reply, I got the impression she was annoyed by it. So I started to check my email more. In fact I always had it open on my Desktop in case one came in.

I decided to stop checking emails first thing in the morning

Then, about 6 months later when she was on holiday, I realised perhaps for the first time that I had a problem. I was checking my email very late at night and also when she was away on holiday! At this point I decided to do something about it. Googling the issue, I found I by far wasn’t the only person with this problem.

How did I solve it? With difficulty is how. To begin with I had a false start, and then I decided to stop checking emails first thing in the morning (because it made me want to reply to the emails right away, which meant it ate into my work time). After a while, though, the new routine became second nature and I was away. And I’ll tell you something, friend: I was glad for it. It changed my life and freed up time I had no idea I even had. Brilliant!

Of course, some people get more addicted than others. It’s just their nature. But where there is a will there’s a way, so always remember that. You’re in control, not Google!

Wild nature, sights, sounds, smells – the hum of crickets hidden in the grass rubbing their legs together. The stench of boggy wet mud and the smell of bushes after heavy rain. Seriously: who couldn’t possibly like this?

My 14 year-old self, is who. I hated all this. Every Sunday as a child my family forced me to go out walking with them. Our mission: enjoy ourselves as a family all together. Our objective? To bond and become more closely knit.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my family, but back then so much was in our way. Resting idly between me and them were hormones, a chasm of misunderstanding and my love of anything they hated. So, when they despised the 4×4 cars that drove along the track at the top of our road, I adored them. And when boy racers put their foot down through our village – paying no attention to the speed limit – I loved that too!

actually, although mum wouldn’t admit it, she had been the stereotypical rebellious teenager too!

And I just didn’t get the thrill of walking about in the countryside — could not, for the life of me, see the point in it. Not for a good few years. Then, when I was 17 it suddenly struck me and I knew what I had been missing out on.

To begin with I was sad I had missed out on years of tramping through the undergrowth with my folks and brothers and sisters. Sad I had been a misery and caused heartache to my dad in particular when I refused to don my walking boots. Annoyed with myself for upsetting mum when I wouldn’t wear the kagool rain-mac thing which we had all been bought. But then my dad explained to me that he had, in fact, been the same way. He had hated walking as a child, and actually, although mum wouldn’t admit it, she had been the stereotypical rebellious teenager too!

So I don’t feel so bad now, not really. I know that actually, really, I was just doing what genetics told me. And now that I know that I feel content in the knowledge that I was doing the right thing.

I wonder if I will be as patient as my parents when I have children one day and they are as much of a pain to me as I was to mine?

Somehow I doubt very much that I could ever be as patient. But I tell you one thing: I am going to try…

Moving house is, objectively speaking, one of the most difficult things in life. In the last five years I have moved house six times. For some people this is easier than others. If you have your own car or a driving license, you don’t have to rely on the ’kindness of strangers’. I have tried moving so many different ways; asking friends for help; not asking anybody for help; and hiring love. After a particularly awful experience when a friend sat and read a magazine while I carried boxes, I embraced the concept of paying for a man and van. Paying Chris was the single smartest thing I have ever done. He was strong, calm under pressure and completely reassuring in the most stressful of circumstances. Chris and I moved a refrigerator down from a third floor flat. Chris got a large settee into a very small Victorian terrace. Chris never flinches. It upsets me, sometimes, as a feminist that I can’t do everything for myself. When you ask some mates to help, they make you feel helpless. A couple of years ago I realized that it was my father’s fault that I never learned how to drive. I made him too nervous while he was trying to teach me, and he loved to drive so much that he didn’t want to share the wheel. I thought in blaming him, I could release the demon and take responsibility myself. That’s the plan anyway. I am looking for a driving instructor like Chris.

Life in the city can be monotonous and boring at times. During the summer it also gets pretty smoggy and the heat can be unbearable when using public transport. As the weather heated up this week I heard the seaside calling me.I have always had a love for the British coast and in particular, the coast around the south west. I packed up the car on Friday and headed down to Looe in Cornwall. Cornwall itself is captivating, the countryside is rolling and delightful, the coast line is rugged and beautiful and the towns and villages are so inviting.
My idea of a perfect afternoon is to enjoy a wonderful Devon cream tea in a cottage garden overlooking the coast. That is exactly what I got. This time around I stayed in The Old Bridge Hotel which can be found on line at www.theoldbridgehousehotel.co.uk. The lovely hotel overlooks the harbour and I stayed in a lovely room with uninterrupted views. To be honest for the whole time that I was there I did little else other than look out over the harbour and dream about what life would be like if I could leave the city for good and move down to Cornwall to live the good life.
I watched children play and fishermen come and go. I drank tea and ate scones like they were going out of fashion and I stayed up late in the bar area with the other guests drinking fine whiskey and chatting about our own childhood trips to the coast.

I went to go see my friend run an old female 10K race last week. It was a completely inspiring event. The women who were running came in all shapes, sizes and ages and were running to raise funds for everything from cancer research to cheap flights to the Arctic. The one thing that I could not handle, though, was the man who was acting as the host slash master of ceremonies kept referring to the runners as ladies. As a student in the nineties, I was educated in gender equality. As a young person, everybody gets their pet peave and pet issue. At that time it was refusing to be called a ’lady’. Lady is a judgement term, not a word that describes the sex of a person. If you want to differentiate between people who have two x chromosomes and one y and one x, you would use the terms ’man and woman’. You can also use the terms ’male and female'but many people assert that this is actually a reference to gender and not biology. Gender meaning the social norms that people of a certain biology are raised with. This then gives space for people who are transgendered. The issue with the term ’lady'is that ’ladies'are considered well behaved, polite, and act correctly. A ’woman'is not necessarily polite or correct and does not have to be polite and correct at all times. You can be a woman without having to be a lady.
