That Word…
‘Marketing’ is a shameful English word which really needs to be changed to something nicer sounding, in my humble opinion. If the word ‘Marketing’ was replaced with something like ‘Hawaii’, ‘Lovely’, or ‘Gorgeous’ we would all love Marketing and smile whenever we heard the word it should have been. We’d finish the week and look forward to a weekend stuffed with marekting. But alas the word ‘Marketing’, to many people, has the same effect of a spit in the face or the words “I think we should just be friends, what do you think?” And you can’t blame people for having something against marketing and the people who do it. It’s everywhere: In our faces through advertising, on the internet. People even call you up when you are having Sunday Roast and want to chat about things to do with Marketing–which will only take five minutes….(a very long time in the world of a Roast Dinner…)
But marketing isn’t all bad, not by any means. So don’t panic about it, you can relax. You can read about energy-saving super company Enigin’s ideas concerning the M word by clicking the link.
I have to say I was impressed. Why? Well, I have an awful understanding of numeracy, marketing, and anything connected to convincing lots of people about something, so I should be one to know. But it turns out that it isn’t as complex or sinister as I once thought. No, there are ways to market which are good, and an attitude to doing it which is healthy. From what I can gather, it’s even possible for marketing to sometimes be fun. Now, that’s something I’m always interested in.
